The Academy of Foriegn Languages & Studies® came into existence in 1999. Its obejectives, are as follows:
"The Academy of Foriegn Languages & Studies® shall endeavour to promote the study of principles for which Academy worked during its life-time, national integration, social justice, secularism, democratic way of life, international understanding and scientific approach to the problem of society."
Towards this end the Academy shall:

Foster the composite culture of India and establish such departments or institutions as may be required for the study and development of the languages, arts and culture of India; |

Take special measures to facilitate students and teachers from all over India to join the Academy and participate in its academic programmes; |
03 |
Promote in the students and teachers an awareness and understanding of the social needs of the country and prepare them for fulfilling needs; |
04 |
Make special provisions for integrated courses in humanities, science and technology and employment oriented courses in the educational programmes of the Academy; |
05 |
Take appropriate measures for promoting inter disciplinary studies in the Academy; |
06 |
Establish such departments or institutions as may be necessary for the study of the languages, literature and life of foreign countries with a view to inculcating in the students a world perspective and international understanding; |
07 |
Provided facilities for the students and teachers from the other countries to participate in the academic programmes and life of Academy. |
In the light of the above, the approach of the Academy has evolved policies and programmes which will make th Academy of Foreign Languages & Studies® a distinct institution to the national resources in higher education, rather than a mere quantitative expansion of facilities which already exist everywhere. The Academy identifying and is concentrating upon some major academic programmes, which are also of relevance to the national progress and development.
