Kendriya Vidyalaya, Janak Puri New Delhi is one of the Kendriya Vidyalayas that came into being in 1973 to provide an innovative curriculum and total quality education. It stands for the onward march of the human race towards higher objectives, under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the 'Ministry of Human Resource Development' to benefit the children of Government employees with the purpose that the Education of their children of the parents. As such it is an institute of national importance thought to be the custodian of knowledge, traditions and values in various fields of human endeavour. The criteria of common cruuiculum, syllabus and co-curricular activities go a long way to cater to the needs of growing children. A long with the entrusted duty of mental, Physical and moral development these Vidyalayas are a key to national integration situated in the heart of Janak Puri Asia's one of the few big colonies, has the ground area of about 7.3 acres and can easily accommodate about 3000 students. Students of the Vidyalaya under the able guidance of highly educated trained, experienced and talented teachers are being nurtured with all care, love and affection. The school has classes upto Senior Secondary recognized and affiliated by CBSE. At plus two level it has the privilege of imparting instructions through Science, Commerce and Humanities streams. Special Coaches to train students have been engaged through KVS in the following fields : Badminton, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Tae Kwondo, Dance & Fine Arts.
To improve fluency in English language - A conversation teacher has been engaged. The school total strength in 2000-01 was 2820. The school has 66 sections in total.
