Kendriya Vidyalayas was setup in 1962 to cater the educational needs of the children of transferable Central Government employees including Defence and Para-Military personnel, who frequently transferred from one language area to the other. The objective of Kendriya Vidyalayas are to develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of "Indianness" among children. All Kendriya Vidyalayas affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education and have bilingual medium of instructions.
