You have chosen the best time to begin your career in aviation. The aviation industry has "come of age". It is vital part of world's economy and way of life. The demand for skilled Engineers continues to grow year after year.
Ours is group of Aeronautical Engineers and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, who have successfully completed Associate Membership Examination conducted by A. S. I. New Delhi & Aircraft Maintenance Engineering license examination conducted by DGCA, New Delhi.
We are passing through an Industrial Revolution, where gold is being exchanged for machines. Every nation in the world has accepted industrialization as the best means of national advancement and prosperity.
To meet the huge demand for knowledgeable, job oriented and qualified technical personnel to plan, execute and maintain the various projects and industries, there is a great need for well trained engineers and technicians. A wide variety of opportunities exist in the various fields of engineering viz. Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Automobile and Aeronautical Engineering are a few to mention.
The School of Aeronautics was established in 1992. Initially we started with correspondence course in Aeronautical Engg. (A.M. Ae. S. I. Equivalent to B.E. Aeronautics). Then in 1994 we started Regular Course / Part Time Classes for the same. Management of LNVM Society decided to start Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course after due approval from DGCA in 2000, approval of which was granted in 2001. At present institute has around 1004 students on its rolls in various courses. We have students from almost all states of India. Beside this we have some students from Nepal and Dubai in our courses.
The basic objective of establishing SOA is :
Towards this aim, therefore, a team of dedicated engineers, teachers came forward and put their whole hearted efforts to evolve a system on an entirely different basis, away from the present.
School of Aeronautics comes under Laxmi Narain Verma Memorial Society Group of Institutions whose aim is imparting quality education in the fields of engineering, aviation and computers.

Well Informed Man Power in Field of AVIONICS
If we look back a decade or two back we will notice that avionics was just limited to a few black boxes for communication and navigation installed on aircraft. But with passage of time avionics in field of aviation has undergone a tremendous change. Integrated Digital Avionics as it is, referred to, has blossomed into a third dimension for aerospace vehicles first two being airframe and engines. Any new advancement in electronics has tempted the A/C designer to add a new dimension to this avionics package. As a result the avionics of today encompasses the aircraft flight control (fly by wire) also engine control (fully automatic Digital Electronics control), the integrated flight and fire control, cockpit displays and even utilities management in addition to communication and integrated navigation. Multiple roles are also being carried out in a truly integrated manner through the use of common digital format for data. This enables avionics systems to share data from a bank of common sensors and data links has permitted additional redundancies in hardware resulting to higher reliability and higher flight safety. Thus multi role aircraft are available with more reliability due to increased role of electronics. This has led to increase in cost of maintenance and manufacture of A/C. We know that avionics of today share 40% of the cost of military A/C and almost 55% of airforce budget.
The major escalation in cost of present day A/C is due to more advanced and developed avionics. Because of advancement in electronics/Avionics we have multi role a/c these days. Even present day helicopter carry a more modern fire control radar and digital avionics flight management computers. Some of Present days A/C have advanced autopilots and common digital automatic flight control and ground proximity warning system (GPWS). The stress these days is vastly on avionics updates, which improves performance. Head up display is a new growth area being used on light transport a/c (LTA). The market of avionics is on the increase both in military and civil sectors. The new trend of increased role for avionics is definite to result in increase share of avionics in the local market also.
The training and educational institutes are also updating their course coverage accordingly to deliver the trained manpower and handling and maintenance of developed avionics system in field of aviation. To fulfill the need of trained manpower in field of avionics the endeavour to this institute is update the training programme to generate reasonable level of self-sufficiency in field of avionics. Presently there are about 20 institutes approved by DGCA to train man power for acquiring AME license, out of these only four are approved to train AME's for avionics systems of aircraft of present days.
In 20 institutes which are training the students in the field of Airframe and engines, total number of students coming out in field are approximately 1000 per year, where as number of students coming out with avionics training are only around 180 per year and so they are in great demand in the industry due to short supply and more development of avionics industry.
About the Course
Training for the AME course at SOA has been approved by the DGCA. The license Examination is conducted by the DGCA.
The duration of training at the institute is 2 1/2 years, phased over five semesters and followed by two semesters (one year) of Post Institutional Apprenticeship in an airline/aircraft operator/instrument shop. Different types of Instruments and Aircraft electrical equipment in our workshop give an opportunity to the student to study various theories of instrumentation of an aircraft. The reference books, periodicals, aviation magazines and textbooks in our library keep the student abreast of knowledge in the aviation field. In short SOA provides all facilities to make a student a successful Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
Basically the course is meant for preparing the students for getting Basic Maintenance Engineer License (BAMEL) in Cat ES and IS, which is issued by DGCA after the student has passed Paper I, II and III of examination conducted by DGCA. The BAMEL is a prerequisite for appearing for AME license on a specific aircraft covering Electrical Systems or Instrument Systems (Paper IV). The license is issued by DGCA after the candidate has passed oral cum practical examination conducted by DGCA on specific system on a particular type of aircraft.
Medical Requirment
The student will have to produce a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner with minimum MBBS qualification to certify that he / she has no physical disability and the colour vision is normal.

Students doing AME course can go for additional one year B.E. Equivalent Aeronautical Engineering course either through regular classroom classes or through correspondence course.
Examination is conducted by The Aeronautical Society of India. A.M.Ae.S.I. is recognised by the Govt. of India as equivalent degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
The Government of India recognises a pass in the A.M.Ae.S.I. examination at Section A and Section B levels for the purpose of recruitment to executive posts and commissioned ranks in the services in the appropriate fields under the Central Government. Candidates with A.M.Ae.S.I. qualification is eligible to apply for any job in Aeronautics where B.E. is prescribed as the minimum eligibility qualification for the post. They are also eligible to pursue Post Graduate courses.
As there is great dearth of qualified aircraft engineers in India as well as abroad, candidates who successfully complete this course along with AME will be able to obtain lucrative jobs in field of aviation.
